The wooden rehal is one of the objects that has been used to study the Koran by Muslims. This object, which
can be seen in mosques and houses, is in the form of an English letter x. This rehal, which is kept at the Metropolitan Museum is one of the most unique in the Mughal period. This is undoubtedly the unique example that its decorative motifs and unique combinations were created along with traditional symbols and colors, making it an exceptional composition. By examining the motifs and arrays on the surfaces of this rehal, we can understand the designer and constructor’s ability to regulate the form and space of the plot and its shape, and in this way, evaluate the breadth of insight and constructive thinking of the designer. It was based on the question of what kind of motifs were used in the decoration of the rehal of Koran of the Metropolitan Museum and how is the relationship between these motifs? The purpose of this research was to recognize and analyze patterns, and geometric relationships between these components. This research is descriptive-analytic, and the information obtained is collected by the library method. The study of motifs and scrolls of the shrub expresses the doctrine of Muslim artists, which are the principles and aesthetic rules based on golden proportions and the influence of the principle of unity in the same plurality and following the principle of the symmetry in Islamic art.
