Studying the Form and Role of the Metalworks of
Khoaja Ahmad Yesawi's Tomb in Turkestan
Statement of the problem: The Timurid period is one of the most important periods in Islamic metalwork, and one of its examples is a very beautiful stone slab that was made by the order of Timur for the tomb of Khwaja Ahmad Yesavi. Also, six large candlesticks, flags, lanterns dedicated to this tomb, and metal door knockers of Khwaja Ahmad Yesui's tomb, which have remained simple and strong with very delicate and high-quality decorations, and show Timur's devotion to Khwaja Ahmad. Now some of these works are kept in museums all over the world. The various designs that are engraved on the curved bodies of the candlesticks, or the shape, techniques of making, decorating and carving the metal vessels of this tomb indicate the art of artists who have various writings and images on their bodies. have been engraved and embossed. The results show that the motifs and decorative designs of Islamic metals are a look at the artist's mind and are effective from the course of evolution and ideological progress and the rate of growth and development of sciences, techniques and industries and the social conditions of the Timurid period.
Purpose: In this research, we try to investigate the form and motifs of the metal works of the tomb of Khwaja Ahmad Yesavi and analyze the features and characteristics of these works. The question that comes to mind here is what are the formal and decorative features of the metal works of Khwaja Ahmed Yesavi and what is the relationship between the motifs used on these works and their function? And the proposed hypothesis is that the motifs and text of the inscriptions used on the works are related to their function.
Research Method: a library method was used to collect information and a descriptive-analytical research method was used. Therefore, in line with the purpose of the research, the works obtained from the tomb of Khwaja Ahmed Yesavi were analyzed and by using the information of various books and internet sources, the motifs on them were examined and by studying them, to present Let's get the summary results in the field of works made in this period.
Conclusion: This article, by introducing the samples of the metal works of Khwaja Ahmed Yesavi's tomb, which were made by different artists, examines the form and decorative motifs on it, and shows a picture of the mentality of that metal worker in the creation of these works.
