From at an early age of Qajar dynasty, Nastaʿlīq ‘s script was revived by returning artists to the past traditions of calligraphy. In particular, the Mir Emad Hassani style was considered by calligraphist in the Qajar era. Hence, the Nastaʿlīq quality promoted to the Safavid level. Fath-Ali Shah Qajar who was Calligraphist announced the Nastaʿlīq as the national script of Iran. Following him, Mohammad Shah and Naser Al-Din Shah continued the tradition of supporting calligraphy. Generally, the Nastaʿlīq script which had evolved during the Safavid period became diverse in the Qajar time. The calligraphists accomplished their own style and form by returning to their past traditions. They designed an innovative style in form of the composition, templates and line structure. In this article, the research method is descriptive-analytical, which has carried out using library resources and manuscripts images in the National Museum of Malek. In this research, firstly, the main script of the Qajar period has been introduced. In the next step, the changing factors are examined. The research finding illustrates that the significant, changing elements of the Nastaʿlīq script’s style comprise: Special court support, Entrance of lithography to Iran and the line fitting necessity with print conditions, decreasing the order of writing texts. Therefore, calligraphers utilized new templates which became suitable with new changes.
