Ethics Charter of the Journal of Islamic Art is based on the guidelines provided by the Publication Ethics Committee, and all participants are expected to adhere to these ethical principles. Obviously, any plagiarism or other abusive behaviors will lead to the withdrawing of the article from the review process. This charter is set up to determine the duties and responsibilities of the authors, the editor, the editorial board and the referees:
Editor and editorial board
• Acceptance of articles: The editor of the journal is responsible for deciding whether or not to accept the papers submitted. The editor accepts articles with the help of the editorial board and with regard to issues of copyright, plagiarism, etc, as well as the discretion of the reviewers and editors.
• Justice: Editors have the duty to judge the articles merely in terms of merit and must act without any maladministration or malice, or in terms of nationality, gender, religion, and ethnic, racial or political issues.
• Confidentiality: The editor and editorial board should not disclose information about the article in the review process to anyone other than the reviewers, writers and editors.
• Non-disclosure and personal use: Submissions of non-published articles should not be used in the editorial or editorial board's personal research without the written consent of the author. Confidential information or ideas that are obtained through the evaluation of articles should be kept confidential and not used for personal gain.
Referees:
• Acceptance of articles: Referees will assist the editor and editorial board in deciding whether to accept or reject the article and contribute to the promotion of the article by submitting an amendment to the authors.
• The right to reject and refuse: Refusal and rejection of an application for reviewing an article is necessary and essential on some occasions. A referee who feels to be not qualified to judge a research article should refuse to evaluate that article.
• Confidentiality: Referees should respect the confidentiality of the review process and should not disclose information about the article without the written consent of the author to anyone other than the editor.
• Impartiality: Referees must review the articles objectively, impartially and fairly. Judges should avoid personal biases in their recommendations and judgments.
• Resources: Judges are required to identify and review the sources that the author refers to. Any conclusions or arguments that have been raised before should be mentioned along with their sources. Referees are also required to inform the editor if they see any similarities or overlaps between the submitted work and the other article.
• Conflict of Interest: Referees should not use the information or ideas obtained during the review process for personal gain. Referees should also refuse to review articles that they consider to be inconsistent with the interests of the common interests of the financial, organizational, personal, or any other communication or links with companies, institutions or persons associated with the articles.
Authors
• Report of the findings: The corresponding author is responsible for the final content of the entire submitted article. The authors are committed to fully report their findings and to give their findings and interpretation specific attention. The article should contain sufficient details and sources in order to allow other researchers to access the same data set to replicate the research.
• Plagiarism: The corresponding author should ensure that all the materials cited are the result of his/her research and his/her coauthors whose names are mentioned in the paper and determine the novelty and originality of each of the data sets used.
Originality: The article should be new and original. The author cannot submit an article to the Journal of Negarine Honar Islami (Islamic Art) if the very article in whole or in part is being reviewed elsewhere or previously published.
Acknowledgments: The authors should refer to and appreciate the works that have influenced the formation of the research.
• Compilation of the work: All authors in the article should actively involve in the research work and be responsive to the results. The credibility of writing or compilation should be proportionate to the contributions of different parts. The authors must accept the responsibility and the validity of the work. The corresponding author, who sends the article to the journal, must send a copy or draft of the article to all coauthors, and gain their consent to submit the article for publication.
• Conflict of Interest: The authors are required to raise any conflicts of interest that have influenced the outcome of the research or the interpretation of the findings and indicate the sources of funding for their research.
• Precision: If an author finds that s/he is making a serious mistake or carelessness, s/he must promptly inform the editor of the Journal of Negarineh (Islamic Art) and cooperate in the process of reviewing and modifying the article.
The articles published in the Journal do not necessarily reflect the opinions of this journal, and the responsibility of the articles is respected by the authors.
If properly cited, materials and images of the journal are allowed to be used.
